The Lift Boys is one of several side-projects lead by Yamatsuka Eye (Boredoms, Hanatarash). The first cut, Anarchy Village is reminiscent of lazy days spent in front of a flickering television screen, scoring bananas in a rousing session of Donkey Kong Country- thumping tribal drums accompanied by a energetic flute, the vocalizations of a jungle animals echo in the distance. Anarchy Way follows the same tribal/world aesthetic with it's Shankarian sitar shredding, but a simple yet catchy house beat makes for an interesting change of pace. Both tracks reflect Eye's penchant for experimentalism through a smattering of bizarro-noise, electronic FX and random drum freakouts. Despite it's eclectic nature, Anarchy Village/Anarchy Way is not only infectious but extremely danceable. Fun stuff. Highly recomended.
